A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
